RACE is growing and so is the web site. Over the next few weeks the site will expand its content - please check back regularly!

RACE was founded on the premise that “a few thoughtful, committed people can change the world” In that spirit of Margaret Mead, we will raise awareness about how to notice and change our  ways. We will coordinate and communicate the actions of town government, schools, library, faith communities, business, and civic groups. By doing this, we hope to encourage these organizations to take on specific environmental works and to share their experience with others. This should help us avoid duplication and increase the efficiency of town wide efforts.

We’ve been waiting for you. Come let us wonder about a world of clean air, clear water, and organic earth. Yes, a better world can be born if we make small changes to our lifestyles. And we can begin this change here in our town of Ridgefield, CT

If you’re like us, the environment has been a concern to you for many years.  The messages are now loud and clear:  Humanity needs to take immediate action to reduce our impact upon the earth and its resources. Images of polar ice caps dissolving into the sea, stranded polar bears on ice floes, devastating hurricanes, and snow capped mountains with no snow flash daily across our screens. These sad events also merit page one headlines in major newspapers across the world.

The urgent message continues. The publication of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was released in Paris on Friday, February 2, 2007. This report is definitive and clear. There is no longer room for doubt. Global warming and climate change have been occurring and will continue to occur, perhaps for centuries. Humanity cannot stop it, but if we change our destructive habits, we can soften the blow for future generations.
